How to connect a linux computer to the eduroam service

The wireless service enables members of the University to connect to the University network and the Internet using their own computers and devices at various locations around the University and Halls of residence. This guide contains instructions to connect a computer to the eduroam wireless service.


Setup Script

You first need to download the linux script: https://swis.swan.ac.uk/eduroam-tool-linux.sh
Once downloaded, you need to open a termial window. In Ubuntu you can do this by pressing Ctrl-Alt-t.
In a terminal, browse to the directory where the script was downloaded to. This is typically you /home/user/Downloads directory.
Then type the command chmod +x eduroam-tool-linux.sh
Then you can run the installer by typing ./eduroam-tool-linux.sh
Then follow the steps of the installer.
Once complete, you can then click on eduroam from the wireless dropdown menu and connect.
