How to connect your Chromebook to eduroam

Below are instructions on how to connect your chromebook to the eduroam wireless network. Please ensure you are reading these instructions from the SwanseaUni-setup wireless network

Manual Configuration

There are two main steps to complete:
  1. 1. Import the Swansea University CA Certificate
  2. 2. Configure wireless settings

    Import the Swansea University CA Certificate

  1. 1. Connect to the open SwanseaUni-Setup wireless network
  2. 2. Download this file to your Chromebook: h
  3. 3. Open this page: chrome://settings/certificates (copy and paste this to the address bar)
  4. 4. Change to the Authorities tab and click Import
  5. 5. Choose the file you downloaded in the previous step above
  6. 6. When asked Do you want to trust “Swansea University Certificate Authority”, click OK (you don’t need to tick any of the boxes)
  7. 7. Fully shut down and restart the Chromebook

  8. Configure wireless settings

  9. 1. Choose eduroam in the list of available wireless networks
  10. 2. Choose PEAP as the EAP method
  11. 3. Choose MSCHAPv2 as the Phase 2 authentication
  12. 4. Set Server CA certificate to Swansea University Certificate Authority
  13. 5. Enter your Swansea University email address in the Identity box e.g. (for students) (for staff)
  14. 6. Enter your password into the Password box, this is the same as you use to access other services, such as mail intranet, blackboard etc.
  15. 7. Tick the Save identity and password option and click the Connect button
  16. 8. Your Chromebook will now connect.
  17. 9. If prompted, when the Continue button becomes enabled, click it.
